On XX/XX/2021, I sent a message to my mortgage company, CMG Mortgage, that it appeared that they paid my annual property insurance bill, from my escrow account twice. Once in XXXX and again in XXXX. The amount paid twice was {$3000.00}. At that time, I was told to allow 7 -10 days to see the funds back in my account. On XX/XX/2021, I closed on a refinance and the loan at CMG was paid in full. I have not received the balance of my escrow account as today. Since then, I have followed up with online messages and phone calls. On XX/XX/2021, I was told that after some research, they discovered that that sent the first payment to the wrong insurance company in XX/XX/2021. So when they were notified again for payment by my insurance company, another payment was sent in XX/XX/2021. I was told by employee XXXX ( employee # XXXX ) to expect the issue resolved by XX/XX/2021. After not seeing any resolution, I called again on XX/XX/2021. I spoke to XXXX. He told me that they have not received any response from the incorrect insurance company regarding refunding the payment and CMG can not refund me until they receive the funds back from other insurance company. He said I could call the incorrect company if I would like. I told him that this was CMG 's error and not mine. They should not be holding my money hostage because of their mistake. They paid the wrong company, not me! I believe that laws are in place that any monies left over after payment are to be returned in a certain period of time. To date, my balance in my Escrow account is {$700.00}. Together with THEIR error, I am owed {$3700.00}. Please feel free to reach out to me for more information
