When I returned a rental car to XXXX on XX/XX/2021 in XXXX, XXXX, they claimed there was new damage to the car. I disputed that with them at the time. They claimed damage of {$450.00} I filed a complaint with my XXXX card issuer, Capital One, stating XXXX claim was incorrect and denying I caused any damage to the car. From speaking with a representative at Capital One, I learned that XXXX acts as an intermediary between the merchant ( XXXX ) and the card issuer ( CapitalOne ). Capital One contacted XXXX through XXXX XXXX and relayed my claim. XXXX reported back to directly to XXXX that I acknowledged the damage at the time I returned the car. This is not true. In fact I completed a form denying any responsibility for what they claim to be new damage. ( I should note that the car had numerous scratches, scraped and minor dents all over the car ). Capital One told me there was nothing I could do since the determination was made by XXXX and that there was no way for me to speak directly to XXXX about the dispute. I have since closed the account, but penalties continue to accrue on the claimed balance owed. Is there anything CFPB can do to help me resolve this issue? Thank you-
