Fairway Mortgage pulled my credit and my wife 's credit ( hard inquiry ) without authorization. I started talking with Fairway Mortgage to discuss a loan to build an addition on my home. I provided basic information to Fairway, but I did not give permission on the online form nor did I give permission over the phone. I told the agent on the phone multiple times that I didn't want my credit pulled until the time came. The plan was to pull the credit once the plans/designs for the home addition were completed and ready to process the loan, and the agent knew this. Fairway Mortgage then pulled my credit and my wife 's credit ( hard inquiry ) without authorization. The agent I was working with did not take responsibility and their supervisor then told me they can't remove the hard inquiry from my credit report and it was my responsibility to contact the credit bureau and dispute it directly with them by letter or by phone.
