On XX/XX/XXXX, I was served a summons I was being sued over a medical debt from XX/XX/XXXX. I had no clue about this debt OR that it had been purchased by a collection agency. When the services were initially rendered, I had been terminated from a government sponsored medical plan a week or so prior and didn't know I was uninsured. I had given the admissions person the XXXX information when I was seen in the ER. I found out later that day when I tried to fill a prescription, that I had been terminated from the insurance. I never received a bill for the services, so I thought it had been paid by XXXX. I moved to my current location in XX/XX/XXXX. I had the same phone number from XXXX - XXXX. I also had a job at the same place during that time. My first notice of this debt was the summons to appear in court for an outstanding debt of {$1000.00}. I have been attempting to fight the civil case in court per se since our first court date. Professional Finance Company, LLC has never called me or attempted to remedy this debt outside of the court proceedings. I attempted to settle for {$250.00} with my paperwork during discovery. No response, only another court date. Not only did I NOT know this debt was still owed for 4+ years, I didn't know it had been sold to this predatory company. They sued me without ever trying to contact me.
