In 2017 I was the subject of identity theft. A credit card was opened with XXXX XXXX XXXX in my name with a false address and thousands of dollars were charged. I filed a police report, contacted XXXX, XXXX and XXXX and the matter was resolved and my credit report cleared. I placed credit freezes and fraud alerts with all of the credit reporting agencies at that time. Recently, I discovered that Transunion was still reporting the amount in default and that it was open for collection, which adversely affected my credit score. I filed a complaint online with Transunion on XX/XX/XXXX but received no response. I contacted Transunion on XX/XX/XXXX and was told that they received the dispute and I would hear shortly. I heard nothing and contacted them again today and to my shock I was told that they have a record that a dispute was filed but that the documents I submitted in support of the dispute were not received due to " technical issues '' and that they also could not process the dispute. I spent hours dealing with this and they told me to now submit it again, which I just did. This is outrageous and Transunion should be held accountable for failing to remove the derogatory comment on my credit report and for failing to properly handle the dispute. I have copies of the Chats with the Transunion reps from XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX.
