Consumer Narrative
This company failed to cease communication with me and after repeated requests to immediately stop harassing me and validate a {$430.00} alleged emergency room debt, I filed a complaint to the CFPB. This complaint is regarding their response to my complaint as it contains untrue information in an attempt to exonerate themselves of any wrongdoing. They are not respecting consumer 's rights, the CFPB or the FDCPA. After filing this complaint Medicredit made false statements to the CFPB regarding their communication with me and I want this on record because I have proof that they are lying regarding the tactics they employed in attempting to collect this debt. Although Medicredit stated that my account was not placed with their office until XX/XX/XXXX, I have voicemails as far back as XX/XX/XXXX that I have saved. They called at XXXXXXXX XXXX that day and left a voicemail stating that they were " calling from MediCredit on behalf of XXXX XXXX XXXX '' and stated that they were a debt collector. As such, their response to my complaint is false. Prior to this complaint they stated that no request for validation had been received for this account. However, I requested this twice verbally, once more on XX/XX/XXXX in writing, and finally had to file a complaint with CFPB on XX/XX/XXXX when I received an additional call at work. Despite them stating that their records indicate they received no written or verbal communication from me regarding this account, I sent written correspondence on two occassions and spoke verbally with two ( 2 ) representatives prior to contacting the CFPB. The cease and desist that they claim they filed in response to this complaint should have occurred some time ago, when I originally requested it. Further, this should not have escalated to this point. Additionally, they attached a hospital bill as validation. Please note that I myself requested my medical bills and records from this provider following the behavior by this company and their claim that my full coverage XXXX insurance did not cover my XXXX They are sitting in my desk. I did not state I did not visit the hospital at any time. I stated that my insurance reported this visit as paid in it's entirety. Additionally, validation of this debt includes some support as to how the amount on the bill from this company relates to the itemization of medical services on medical records already in my possession due to this neverending argument about what billing mistake occurred and why I'm being harassed. I again will emphasize that according to my records, this account was paid in full by insurance. Additionally, the amount requested on the bill from the debt collector is not in the validation documentation that was provided in response to my complaint. My original complaint should not have been closed, however this complaint is specific to harassing contact and false statements. Medicredit did not act in good faith with regards to their treatment of this debt and violated my rights as a consumer when they disregarded my request to immediately cease communication and they just lied to the CFPB in an attempt to protect themselves.
