Consumer Narrative
To Whom it may concern, My name is XXXX XXXX and I have been the victim of a fraudulent landlord. I have been in contact with this landlord since he reached out to me from a rental website ( XXXX ) as I was looking to move into his home in XXXX XXXX. The landlords name is XXXX XXXX, who checks out as a certified agent after doing research on him. After applying to his home, he reached out to me asking why I was interested and followed up with other general questions agents and landlord tend to ask tenants. To summarize, we built good rapport and i continued with the application process. A week later, he emails me the good news that I have been approved and i just need to wire him the security deposit, first months rent, and last months rent. All which i did through XXXX and XXXX. He then tells me the keys will be expedited to my current address by the next day. Well, the next day comes and he is unresponsive. Not only do i not receive any updates from him but the keys never come. I instantly drive out to the property and the current tenant there knows nothing of a XXXX XXXX. Please help me, I have spent most of what i have in this transaction hoping to obtain this house. Only to be left with nothing.
