I have a company that decided last XXXX to claim I owe on a card that I paid off and cleared over 10 years ago. The card hasn't been active for around 15 years. I know who the original card company was ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) but can not find any information to contact them directly in order to clear this up. The company claiming I owe them ( XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX ) is known for fraudulently re-opening old card accounts. I want this off my credit report, it is false and was settled a long time ago. Since it was paid off so long ago, I doubt I can find any type of paperwork from me paying off the account. Please help me with information so I can attempt to get proof from the original card company that this account was paid in full. This account has not been on my credit report for at least 10 years.
