Consumer Narrative
Hello, The scoring program used by TransUnion incorrectly computes a score that does not reflect their own calculation method. Here 's a breakdown : -Payment history represents 40 % of a consumer 's score. I've had over 430 on time payments and 1 late payment in 8 years. -Credit type and history accounts for 21 % of the score. I have various types of credit and history dating back at least 10 years ( all up to date with only one late payment ). -Credit utilization is 20 % of the score. My credit utilization has been at or under 35 % and is currently at 15 %. -Balances represent 11 % of a consumer 's score. This is confusing because it's related to credit utilization. The balance for my car loan is high compared to the loan amount because it's a new loan. It's up to date and has no missed payments. The real issue with their mortgage requirement. They view mortgages as a credit balance instead of an installment loan so it is " reporting '' my balance as high because the mortgage hasn't been paid down to their liking. Mortgages are rarely paid down more than 15 % of their " balance ''. -Recent credit contributes to 5 % of the score. I have two new accounts, one refinance and one auto loan. Both are up to date with no late payments. -Available credit accounts for 3 % of the score. My total available credit is {$41000.00}. I only have a balance of {$5500.00} total between all of my accounts. Considering all of the above information, my credit score should be well above 700 but instead it's at XXXX. Transunion 's new method needs to be thoroughly examined to determine errors and corrected. Thank you, XXXX
