Hello, I recently purchased a home with Home Point Financial ( Loan # XXXX ) but lost my job due to COVID right after closing. I explained this to Home Point via phone call and they promised me a forbearance program, which wouldn't negatively affect my credit. However after the second month of forebearance, my credit was hit with a 60 day late! Fortunately I was able to borrow money from a relative to make up those payments and exit forbearance as I began a new job, however Home Point has refused to remove the late payment reporting, although they agreed to a forbearance program for me! Their representative even told me over the phone that it was currently illegal for them to report late payments. Is that true? Thank you very much.
