I have a mortgage account with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. Since I have paid the property tax, flood insurance and homeowners insurance by myself, I have never set up an escrow account. During this summer, I noticed an escrow account with my mortgage. I called the customer service and sent the copy of my insurance policies. They acknowledged that they had received my insurance policies. Still they refuse to credit me the escrow they charged on me. Right now I am paying double for the insurance. Is it legal for a financial company to charge an escrow even on the account with paid insurance and paid tax? I am the one who paid the insurance premium and Well Fargo is trying to scam me by taking money from me.
