I had stopped payment on a check for a service that did not happen. ( No show ) since the banks wouldnt cash it the person cashed it at a store because I guess they dont check. I saw a mark on my credit, which is usually perfect. I called to find out what it was. The debt collection agency told me it was a check I wrote to someone else. They could only collect from me since the guy who cashed the check is a fraud. I was upset obviously but not talking foul. The debt collector said if I didnt speak to him in a nice tone he could do worst and keep this on my report even though he first said he would remove it. I honestly can not believe companies can hurt you this way based on their personal feelings. This isnt even my debt but I was forced to pay it or impact my credit and because I didnt say please and thank you he may do worse now as he suggested. I was forced to pay a debt Thay was not mine.
