On XX/XX/XXXX, I made an installment payment to XXXX XXXX for a new HVAC system at our home using my Capital One credit card. Today, XX/XX/XXXX, I checked my card and saw that I had been assessed a " cash advance fee ''. I spoke with an agent who told me I needed to call the other company ; have a representative 3-way on a call with Capital One and confirm that's what happened, and then, he would refund the fee. When I called back to do that, I spoke to a 2nd agent who told me the fee could not be refunded although I had done everything the previous agent asked including have a representative from XXXX XXXX on the line. I requested my concerns be referred to a supervisor. I explained everything to her. I was put on hold and when she came back, she said she agreed with me and would support me, but she could not remove the fee although she knew it was not a cash advance. I asked what did I have to pay to stop the daily accruing interest. She advised the minimum due plus the amount of the charge plus the fee. She also advised even after paying those fees, I would still be charged an additional day of accruing interest and would see it on my next statement. That's when she offered that she was noting a lot of details on my account in case it would be needed. For the record, Capitol One charges 28.99 % interest on cash advances ... significantly more than the interest charged for purchases. That is why I had to pay the minimum charge plus the total amount of the charge to XXXX XXXX as well as the associated cash advance fee.
