XX/XX/ I retired and moved to another state. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX charged me {$150.00} for the cancellation of the service. I tried to resolve this with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Retention Department, but it insisted the charge for cancellation is righteous. I was told that if I had requested a transfer of service and that there was no XXXX XXXX service in XXXX that they would have waived the {$150.00}. I was never informed of that option when notifying XXXX XXXX of cancellation. I have been a customer of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX for 10-15 years ( lost count ). It is claimed that the cancellation fee was for termination of a contract seven months before the two-year contract was fulfilled. How is it possible for a company to declare a two year contract when I/we 've been satisfied, if not loyal, customers for a decade or more? They said because we received new equipment 18 months ago. ( That is true in that the equipment we had failed, and their repairman said we needed another one. So apparently that made us a " new customer '' that had to maintain service for another two years. ) All equipment was returned to XXXX XXXX and acknowledged by them as such. We did not end service because of a better offer from another cable company. I retired and moved to an XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX where acquiring XXXX XXXX would have been difficult if not a nuisance. XXXX XXXX captured $ XXXX dollars of that/ $ XXXXcancellation fee by absorbing credits we were given for terminating two other bundled services. We are refusing to pay the additional {$80.00} as this constitutes extortion and unjust levying of charges -- for what? non-loyalty?
