After paying off my balance XX/XX/2021, Capital One charged me interest on a {$0.00} balance on XX/XX/2021, with no notification between XXXX and XXXX that there was a balance on my account. I had also not checked back to that account because It had been paid in full and not used again after. Due to this it caused the credit bureaus to flag delinquency in payment which dropped my over XXXX credit score to close to XXXX. I disputed this with all 3 credit bureaus in which 1 gave me back almost 50 points ( XXXX ), one gave me back 30 points ( XXXX ), but only a slight bump for the 3rd ( XXXX ). The same day that the disputes were being resolved, Capital One also decided to drop my credit limit in half ( {$10000.00} to {$5000.00} XXXX due to delinquency reported by the credit bureaus. This is very questionable timing given the delinquency was originally reported by Capital One therefore showing they already had knowledge of the balance, but also provided NO PRIOR NOTIFICATION of the charge or continued open balance for me to review before it drastically effected my credit.. Prior to this, I held a 100 % payment rate with Capital One and all other institutions in which I held debt, with this account being my oldest line of credit as a member for almost 9 years. In that 100 % payment rate I have paid off MUCH higher balances ( that I actually charged ), so to be punished this highly for an interest charge that I was not even notified about is highly disappointing. I tried to contact Capital one to have this fixed in which they told me there was nothing they could do, and basically it is what it is but it will be gone in 4 years. This is a form of fraud on the side of the institute ( rather than an individual ) and it should be known by all consumers that the company conducts business using unethical practices knowing the leverage it holds over consumers. I do not deserve to have my exceptional credit rating drop to fair/good when I wasnt notified of being charged and all indicators showing that had I known it was there, it would have been paid.
