Consumer Narrative
On XX/XX/2021 at XXXX, I received a call from XXXX XXXX ( NMLS ID # XXXX ) about information I submitted online about a refinance. During the phone call, I asked if I would even qualify for a refinance and told him I just wanted an idea on the numbers I might get. A few minutes later he stated that my credit and my partner 's credit wasn't pulling for him. I told him I had just lifted credit freezes from XXXX and XXXX. after he still couldn't get the credit to pull he stated that " for security reasons, I need both full social security numbers ''. I asked him if this would be a hard credit inquiry and he stated several times it was a soft pull. I agreed to the soft pull. After he pulled the credit I and my partner received credit notifications that a hard inquiry had been processed and it dropped my partners credit 3 points which resulted in her credit score not being in the excellent range. After we received the notifications, I immediately notified him that he had pulled a hard inquiry and we had not authorized him to do so. He responded by saying " I don't know what you're looking at or where you're getting your information but I assure you that I pulled a soft credit inquiry and that all inquiries show. '' I repeated that I received notifications from the major credit bureaus that there had been a hard credit inquiry to both of our credit reports. After that, he started asking us about our employers and we asked why he needed that information when we just wanted to know general information based on our debt and income. He stated he just needed it to fill out the information on his screen. We stated we did not want to apply for a mortgage at this time. He stated he wasn't setting up an application and asked again for our employer information. At this point we ended the call. Immediatly, I checked my email which had an email sent by Mr. XXXX at XXXX, that stated a mortgage application had been started. At XXXX XXXX, I called Amerisave 's customer service team and who said she would report this information to Mr. XXXXXXXX XXXX supervisor and have them reach out to me to correct the issue. Also, I tried to report this to the credit bureaus but they require you to call during their business hours.
