I am a XXXX survivor who had been receiving periodic testing & follow up care from XXXX XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX, CA. I had lab work done every year for XXXX markers, and this was typically done every Spring. During XXXX, this testing was pushed out to XXXX due to COVID-19. In prior years, I was never charged for this routine lab work, though I may have been charged for certain other procedures or testing. For the XX/XX/XXXX lab work, I was charged {$400.00}. I made repeated attempts to dispute and research through XXXXXXXX XXXX Billing Dept, through XXXX XXXX 's office, and through XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX advised me that it was due to the way the claim was filed. XXXX and XXXX said that the claim would have to be refiled as XXXX instead of XXXX. XXXX XXXX, XXXX in XXXX XXXX 's office advised me by phone in XX/XX/XXXX that she would do that, although her verbal comment was not included in any of her email communications. She explained that XXXX had been taken over by Tenet Healthcare and there had been several billing errors during their transition around the Fall of XXXX. Billing had been paused during research, but I received another bill in XX/XX/XXXX since the claim was never refiled. It is now apparent I can not get this resolved through Tenet/XXXX or my insurance. My position is that I should have been billed the same in XXXX as I had been in prior years. I would not have had this lab work done if I had known I would be charged {$400.00}.
