I had a credit account open for several years with Wells Fargo, currently with no balance. Periodically I would check my online account with them just to insure there were no unauthorized charges and everything looked ok. I tried logging into my account and had to " try again later. '' I tried the next week and got the same message. I thought that maybe the site was down for maintenance when I was trying. After the third attempt on a different occasion, I phoned Wells Fargo and was told that my account had been closed because I hadn't used it in 18 months. I had no notice whatsoever, either regular mail or email. I told customer service that I wanted my account reopened. I was told they would not do that. I asked for her supervisor, then the next supervisor. I got a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX ( copy attached ) that stated that they would not reopen my account. In the meantime, I checked my credit report, and they had falsely reported my account " Closed by Consumer. '' Of course that lowered my available credit and showed that I was using a higher percentage of same, and it lowered my credit score. I filed a dispute with XXXX stating that I DID NOT CLOSE my account. The result of the dispute came back showing no difference. I am adding a statement to my credit report that Wells Fargo LIED about my account 's closure. I received a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX ( copy attached ) and it stated " The account will show as closed by customer, as the reason for closure is the customer not using the account for eighteen months. '' I received NO notice of closure, or perhaps I would have used the card for a pending project. I looked over my last statement and could find NO MENTION of a closure possibility. I received NO Mail or NO EMAIL informing me of this situation. I received a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX ( copy attached ) informing me of revised terms. It only listed Revised Penalty terms and privacy notices. NO MENTION OF PENDING ACCOUNT CLOSURE, Please see the Wells Fargo article published in the XXXX XXXX on XXXX. It states that " Account holders were given a 60-day notice of the closures '', and I absolutely received NO NOTICE. It is appalling that Wells Fargo can get away with reporting the LIE of " Closed by Customer. '' This should be against some ruling for reporting false information. I would liked to see them fined into oblivion.
