I initially applied to Equifax in XXXX to have a credit freeze placed on my credit file. In XXXX I requested and was given a replacement PIN for the freeze. In XXXX of XXXX I applied for a car loan but they couldn't access my credit file because of the freeze. I decided to have the freeze removed but could not immediately access my records with the PIN number needed to lift the freeze so I financed the car privately. Today I called Equifax, with documentation in hand, including the PIN, to request the freeze be lifted. Although I have a letter from Equifax dated XX/XX/XXXX which provides the replacement PIN and which references the original credit freeze date of XX/XX/XXXX, today XX/XX/XXXX Equifax tells me I have no credit freeze on my account. In my conversations with Equifax agents " XXXX '' and her supervisor " XXXX '' I was told I have no credit freeze, I never had a credit freeze, I did have a credit freeze, they don't know how or why the freeze was removed, the reason the car dealership couldn't access my credit must be a problem on the dealership 's end, Equifax no longer uses the PIN system and that is why they can't access any record of the freeze. They also refused to send verification that there is currently no freeze on my file. i
