CMRE Financial Services sent me to collections for a {$370.00} debt. They are quite incompetent & didnt have my current address on file & so I wasnt aware of the debt until it was already on my credit report. Once I took notice of this I called the company & I agreed to pay the debt & they agreed to take the account off of my credit report. A few days later the account was marked as paid but not taken off of my credit report. I called them back & was told in a very aggressive way that they would never do that for me. I asked to speak to supervisors & they never called me back. I disputed with my credit bureau & they still would not agree to take it off of my credit report. How am I supposed to be liable for an account for 7 years that I was not aware of? Not only are these tactics unethical, aggressive, & unfair, but they also disproportionately affect low-income households. I looked up CMRE reviews on the XXXX & everyone else seems to feel the same way. This company holds people XXXX for medical debts & permanently ruins their credit while theyre already hurting. I have never seen a company this brazen & shady, even from debt collectors, ever before.
