1. I signed up with Experian 's credit monitoring service. 2. Through their credit monitoring service they suggested applying to a card with one their marketing partners so that my total percentage credit used would decrease. 3. They then sent me marketing information about a marketing Sponsor named XXXX which they said had pre-approved me for a Master Card. They used the word PRE-APPROVED, which would imply no hard checks on my credit. 4. Although I was approved for that card, there was nevertheless a hard check on my account. 5. In short, Experian actively encourages users of their credit monitoring service to sign up with one of their marketing sponsors, both by making it appear that having more credit is beneficial to the overall credit score, and then leading people to marketing sponsors like XXXX which claim to have pre-approved them for credit - when in fact the marketing partner still performs a hard credit check, thereby in fact damaging the consumer 's credit rating. 6. What Experian and XXXX are doing is in fact a fraudulent hard check on my credit.
