Below is a cut and paste of a letter sent to TransUnion. I tried calling and got a rep who couldn't do anything to help except try to sell me reporting service. It is serious to affect my credit this way and makes no sense XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, WV XXXX SSN XXXX DOB : XX/XX/XXXX TransUnion Consumer Solutions XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX, PA Gentlemen : I am writing to you due to the XXXX point drop in my credit report which makes NO sense. I had a credit card balance of over {$7000.00} related to my husbands funeral and final expenses. I had a credit rating in the high 700s. I finally paid it off and instead of my credit score going up since I had less debt, IT DROPPED XXXX POINTS. I also paid off my car. Well, that was very upsetting to say the least, so I started running my normal expenses through my XXXX card since it appeared to me you didnt like me having no debt. I paid the account off in full each month and figured that was what you wanted. So then I get a notice through one of the consumer credit monitoring pages that you dropped me again to XXXX because I was spending too much money on my credit card, even though it was paid in full each month. You cant have it both ways, drop my score because I paid off a large bill and then drop it again when I spent {$3200.00} buying necessary, one time purchases for my home which again, I paid in full. Something is wrong with your scoring method. It makes so little sense that even XXXX XXXX couldnt understand my credit dropping because I PAID OFF A BILL. Then to drop it again because I bought needed items and paid it in full is ridiculous and makes no sense. This letter is to request that you immediately return my score to the high 700s as I have done nothing to lower my score. Even my bank could find no rhyme or reason to this. Which is it, you like debt or you dont. I am sending a copy of this letter to both the Federal Trade Commission and to my congressional representatives as this makes no sense and is unfair.
