Under the FDCPA -The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Pub. L. 95-109 ; 91 Stat. 874, codified as 15 U.S.C. 1692 1692p - '' The FDCPA prohibits debt collectors from making false statements about the character, amount, or legal status of your debt '' Hunter Warfield , Inc. have repeatedly REFUSED to provide legal status or verify this debt despite repeated requests. I moved out of XXXX XXXX XXXX after refusing to be strong-armed into paying an additional {$600.00} in " Late Fees '' as it was not in my legal lease ( copy of the lease is still in my possession ). I have written XXXX XXXX who continues to state they have no knowledge of the amount that is being pursued on their behalf by Hunter Warfield. When redirected to Hunter Warfield, they are consistently refusing to remove the debt while violating the FDCPA by NOT BEING ABLE TO PROVIDE " details about the age and amount of the debt including a copy of the last billing statement from the original creditor ; a detailed explanation of any interest added or payments made since the last billing statement and the legal authorization for this interest ; the date the original creditor claims this debt became delinquent or any legal documentation that I owe this debt. '' In addition, they have yet to forward details about their authority to collect this debt : whether they are licensed in my state and if so provide the date of the license, name on the license, license number, and the license number, and the name, address and telephone number of the state agency issuing the license. Lastly, since they are contacting me from outside my state they have not provided the licensing information from their state. In reading reviews across the web, denial and deflecting are their trademark behaviors. They do not provide proof as they do not have any legal legitimate proof of the debts for which they are collecting. It is their business practice to strong arm consumers into paying debt for amounts they clearly do not owe. It is time to stop this unlawful practice and hold Hunter Wakefield accountable. Thank you!
