We ( My wife and I ) are elderly immigrated who have moved to the USA from XXXX to stay with our children in the USA. We have children in XXXX XXXX and XXXX We both have green-card, social security and an state ID from Ohio. We even have our XXXX Tax return. We went to Wells Fargo at XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, FL XXXX where my children also have some accounts. We spent significant amount of time with the one of bankers ( Mr. XXXX XXXX XXXX and presented our Social Security cards, State ID, Green-card and etc. The banker made numerous calls to see if he can open account for us, we over heard the calls that he was asked by other party on the line " Why can't you open their account '' and he replied " Because they are XXXX ''! He made about 3-4 phone calls until someone finally told him, " NO ''! It sounded that he deliberately tried hard to find an excuse not to open an account for us and in COVID-Era he kept us in the branch for over 2 hours! We do believe that the cause of denial was discriminatory and even after we called Wells Fargo customer service, they were surprised that the banker refused to open an account! Bank may talk to my daughter regarding this issue too
