I have an ID Notify credit monitoring account with Experian. In 2017, when XXXX was hacked, my Social Security Number was among those compromised. After that hack, I ended up with all kinds of impersonators. It seemed for a while that every other month a credit firm contacted me about an attempt to use credit in my name. I keep a folder of just that correspondence. Now Experian 's ID Notify is unable or unwilling to do their job. In XXXX I found a negative and damaging report on my ID Notify site that was NOT my debt. I contacted them to correct the problem. After a few weeks they sent me a letter stating that the negative report stands. As I stated, this is not my debt. The claim is that I owe {$4300.00} to XXXX University, and the collection agency XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, PA XXXX, ( XXXX ) XXXX, has reported the outstanding debt to the credit bureaus. I finished school nineteen years ago. Ive never heard of XXXX University or XXXX XXXX XXXX before now, and neither one has ever corresponded with me. How did it get in collections? Obviously neither knows a thing about me like my address or phone number. Ive had both for 6 years this Fall. How did they approve credit in my name? Isnt this disconnect obvious to Experian? I tried to log in to the Experian online site to address this issue, but my ID Notify Username and Password do not work there. Because the site states I have an account there, I provided my Birthdate and my SSN to get an email reminder. Experian sent an email to XXXX. I have NEVER had a XXXX email. In addition to the bogus email, Experians Credit Report has two bogus residential and business addresses listed for me one in XXXX, and one in XXXX. Ive never been to XXXX, and only visited in XXXX. There is no way in to Experian to communicate these errors because the XXXX email I've never had is the only way to sign in. So Experian has the audacity to allow a negative report to attach to my credit and refuse to amend it because the collection agency is sure it is me although even Experian cant get my info right, and then presumes to judge my creditworthiness. How do I prove it is not my debt if I have never heard of any of these organizations in my life? How do these credit agencies get the power to ruin ones life? I have worked so hard to have good credit, and just when I need it most for a loan, this blow to my credit comes out of nowhere to ruin my good credit and good name.
