For the last 5 years, on or about XX/XX/XXXX each year, I have attempted to use the www.annualcreditreport.com website to check my free credit report with Equifax. My wife has tried to check her free report on the same day as well. In nine out of the ten attempts, Equifax 's website has told us that it is " unable to deliver our credit report online '' and has forced us to call or mail a request for the report instead. This error message always occurs after correctly answering a series of challenge questions to prove that we are the subjects of these credit reports. We have also verified that our credit files are not frozen at the time we request the reports. The paper reports are eventually delivered to our mailbox weeks later, but our area has a history of mail theft and I feel that this delivery method is significantly less secure than online delivery. Plus, I am trying to use less paper in my filekeeping and then have to scan and destroy the paper reports that are delivered. And the scanned copies then consume significantly more hard drive space than original PDFs would consume. I just want to be able to easily download a simple PDF of my credit report from Equifax 's once per year, like I am able to do with XXXX and XXXX
