I received a collection letter in the amount of {$1800.00} on XXXX XXXX from the company Caine & Weiner with account # XXXX. This was sent to them by XXXX XXXX XXXX company regarding a mortgage insurance that was cancelled months before. This was all due to an error on the insurance 's part when they did not correctly cancel a policy when it was cancelled. I have been working with my agent and XXXX XXXX to confirm this is all settled and complete which it is. I have a {$0.00} balance and the errors were fixed. Caine & Weiner still tell me I owe approximately {$1700.00} as a debt they are are collecting. They declined to contact the original creditor ( insurance company XXXX to resolve this. It has been almost 4 months and they still have yet to fix this on their end. Had I not been aware of all the rules in place for a collection company to collect a debt, I would be deeply in debt. I know XXXX XXXX and Caine & Weiner are not practicing the correct rules in place. Caine and Weiner need to verify their information before considering someone's debt. They only allow the consumer to send a dispute to their company to resolve this.
