On XX/XX/2021 I applied for a personal loan with Net Credit. I was " approved '' for a loan in the amount of {$2700.00} and allowed Net Credit to view my checking account via their online account link. I then received an email indicating I needed to provide a copy of my most recent bank account statement, which I did immediately. Shortly after submitting my bank account statement I received an email informing me my application was denied due to the fact my checking account was associated with a different loan account at Net Credit. This is true. My husband has an individual personal loan with Net Credit for which he is the sole obligor. Likewise, when I applied for my loan, I applied individually and was conditionally approved based on my own credit and income. The fact that my loan was denied simply because my husband and I share a joint checking account creates a condition of disparate impact in its purest form. I would ask Net Credit to review this discriminatory policy as any couple sharing a joint bank account will be denied when other couples who happen to have individual bank accounts will be approved.
