I am filing this complaint regarding a fraudulent collection account resulting from identity theft. A collection account related to an apartment in XXXX has been placed on my credit report. I have never lived at this property and did not authorize or open this account. I previously contacted the collection agency and provided the documentation they requested, including : My Identity Theft Report A copy of my driver 's license verifying my identity Despite submitting the required documentation, the company has failed to respond or correct the fraudulent account. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( 15 U.S.C. 1681c-2 ), once a company receives an Identity Theft Report, they are required to cease reporting the fraudulent account and block it from appearing on my credit report. This account is still being reported and the company has not responded to my attempts to resolve this matter. I am requesting that this fraudulent account be immediately removed from my credit report and that the company comply with federal identity theft protections.
