Consumer Narrative

Received a letter dated XX/XX/2026 regarding a change to my " current economic status ''. The letter has no From address, only XXXXXXXX XXXX # XXXX. An internet search of this XXXX number reveals INDEPENDENCE HOME LOANS LLC, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX, AZ XXXX. The letter provided a Reference ID of XXXX. The letter does not specifically state anywhere what its purpose is, only after researching the information on it did I realize it is a solicitation for modifying my current VA mortgage. A reading of the Reference number that starts with " VA '' is meant to deceive the recipient that it is an official VA letter. This letter is an obvious intent to mislead and deceive me, as well as other Veterans, into thinking I need to call the phone number listed because of a problem with my current " economic status '', and then to be subjected to a high pressure mortgage sale. The letter specifically states " This letter is to inform you of a change to your current economic status. '' What legal authority or fiduciary connection to me does the sender have to inform me of any changes to my " economic status ''? I know of none. Since it appears the sender has access to my " economic status '', how did they get that information... have they hacked into my financial records? Additionally, there is a section for a " New Funding Amount '' listed at {$3000.00}. Being notified of a change to my economic status is certainly cause for alarm, and the section showing the new funding amount could be interpreted to mean that I OWE someone that amount of money. The letter states to " View or access your funding status '' cal l XXXX. Note that it does not say ANYTHING about calling this number to get information about the funding status or to change the terms of my VA loan. On XX/XX/2026 I called the number listed XXXX in order to file a complaint against the sender of this letter. No one picks up on this phone number, it only transfers to a recorded message to leave your name and phone number for a call back, which I did NOT do. A while later I received a phone call from a XXXX XXXX at XXXX who proceeded to try and sell me a VA loan. I then issued my complaint to him, as delineated above, and also informed him that I will be filing formal complaints with the VA and other government agencies. Later I received another phone call from an XXXX XXXX at XXXX about a VA loan, and I relayed the same information to him as I did during the previous call. I note that these are unsolicited calls, I did not give my name and phone number for a return call. My phone number is on the Do-Not-Call list and I will be filing complaints against both these individuals.
