I am submitting a complaint regarding Genesis dba acting on behalf of Columbia debt recovery. I received an email on XX/XX/scrub>XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX regarding a rental debt I assumed was settled because the original debtor failed to inform me that my dispute was declined and that they were selling my account/debt to a third party. In this email I was told to call XXXX at ( XXXX ) XXXX, when my call was answered I spoke to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX a collections agent, who I tried explaining that I had disputed the debt previously and was under the assumption it was settled after I provided proof that the balance was paid previous to collections activity. XXXX XXXX was incredibly dismissive and refused to give me information regarding the amount owed, the date of origination. The agent XXXX did advise on how I could dispute the information and mentioned state compliance, when asked about compliance the agent refused to provide me with further information saying that it was not information I was entitled to. XXXX XXXX refused to assist me further and disconnected the call. I called genesis back at the same number referenced above, and spoke to XXXX XXXX, I tried to advise this agent XXXX XXXX that XXXX XXXX refused to answer questions regarding my debt and I asked to submit a complaint. XXXX XXXX then abruptly placed me on hold and transferred me to XXXX XXXX. I advised XXXX I was not comfortable speaking to him regarding my sensitive information and that I would like to speak to another agent or supervisor, he declined saying that I MUST speak with him and when I questioned this he stated thatits not your business how our company operates and I dont have to transfer your call I again asked to please speak to someone else and he refused saying if there was nothing else he could help with with he would be ending the call. I believe that this debt agency has infringed on my right to information and my right to escalate matters regarding my sensitive debt information. In addition the date listed in the email regarding the debt origination is completely incorrect and the agents failed to go over this information with me. The email overall is misleading, the email states to call if there are questions but the agents refuse to answer questions. On one portion of the email it also includes this line ( XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX : Department of Consumer AffairsXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, License XXXX XXXX.
