When I asked, caller said he was calling on behalf of Coast Professional but he refused, when repeatedly asked, to tell me the purpose of his call. He stated that, until I confirmed I was associated with the corporation he mentioned, he was bound by privacy and confidentiality law to not respond to my questions about the purpose of his call. I expressly asked caller if he was seeking information for the purpose of collecting a debt ; he replied that he would not give that information. He never identified himself as a debt collector but did say he was calling from a branch office of Coast Professional in New York State.
