if you try to make a transaction and the card value is less than the total amount of the transaction even though you are attempting to do a split purchase and use the money for the card towards the total amount of the transaction, they will put the card on hold and require a new card to be shipped. you also have to wait on hold for XXXX minutes to get this done. then you will not be able to spend the funds for another XXXX to XXXX days if you even bother to make the phone call. this is done to create a chilling effect which most consumers will not go to the hassle of this and the company will profit 100 % from the card because of the consumer will give up. this is by design and should be addressed by lawmakers.
