I noticed a {$250.00} account in collections show up on my credit report from National Credit Systems. I reached out to inquire about the details and requested proof. They provided what they were calling proof, but it seemed to be an altered " ledger '' that showed that I had owed a balance of {$250.00} for the entirety of my lease that I never paid. I instantly knew this was false for two reasons. First, the payment system they used did not allow for partial payments so I would have been required to pay the whole balance any given month. Secondly, I have email copies of the monthly statements from their system that show a {$0.00} balance every month. So I provided all this to them how they requested, by sending it to their dispute email ( XXXX ). I also walked two of their employees through the document they provided and how it directly contradicts the 12 monthly statements I received from the apartment complex and showed that they even gave me my deposit back. So to then send something to collections over XXXX years, in addition to not making any sense, seems highly unethical and possibly illegal ( I wouldn't know I'm not a lawyer ). So after all this they conducted an " investigation '' in which they " validated '' the balance. When I asked how they came to this conclusion with all the evidence I provided they basically admitted over the phone that they are going to go with what the client said no matter what evidence I produced. So I have resorted to just disputing directly with the credit reporting agencies as this collection agency does not seem to be acting in good faith.
