For over 15 months, I have been paying {$54.00} every month toward my Milestone credit card through automatic payments. I originally used only a few XXXX dollars on the card and believed that my automatic monthly payments were reducing the balance. However, I recently discovered that the company has been charging recurring monthly fees ( $ XXXX per month ), credit protection fees, and interest on those fees in a way that prevented my payments from reducing the principal balance at all. Despite consistent on-time automatic payments for well over a year, the balance barely changed and in some months even increased. At no point was I clearly informed that my payments were being applied almost entirely to fees rather than reducing the actual balance.
