I requested that my Capital One credit card be closed in XX/XX/year> before traveling internationally. I believed the account was closed. I did not receive any notifications, bills, or alerts indicating that the account was still open. When I left the U.S., the balance was around {$8000.00}. I made no purchases after that point. When I returned, the balance had increased to over {$10000.00} entirely due to late fees and interest, not spending. This increase happened only because the account was not closed after my request. When I called Capital One, I explained that I had requested closure in XXXX. The supervisor acknowledged a phone call in XXXX but refused to review the call, refused to treat this as a servicing error, and refused to reverse the fees or interest that accumulated afterward. Instead of investigating what happened, I was repeatedly pushed into payment plans even after I clearly stated that I can not afford to make any payment. The representative and supervisor continued to pressure me for payments despite knowing this, and did not provide any meaningful support or review of the servicing issue.
