Consumer Narrative

I am filing a complaint against NRA Group LLC / NTL Recovery Agency for illegally reporting and attempting to collect a debt that was fully settled and deleted in XX/XX/XXXX. This debt originally belonged to XXXX XXXX XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX, I settled the account with XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have attached the settlement letter and proof of payment showing the debt was accepted as paid in full and marked deleted. Despite this, NRA/NTL reported a new collection account to TransUnion in XX/XX/XXXX for the same debt, even though the account was already settled more than a year before. This caused a derogatory mark on my credit report for six months and resulted in multiple credit denials. NRA/NTL claims they sent validation on XX/XX/XXXX, but they only reference an unclear text message that did not include any of the required FDCPA disclosures about the amount, original creditor, or my dispute rights. I did not receive any written notice by mail, email, or text containing legally required validation information. I never consented to receiving debt validation via text message. I only discovered this collection after seeing my credit report, which violates my rights under the FDCPA 809 ( a ), which requires written notice within 5 days of initial communication. Additionally, NRA/NTL verified this false debt to TransUnion during the FCRA dispute process despite being provided documentation showing the account was already settled and deleted. This constitutes inaccurate reporting and failure to conduct a reasonable investigation as required under FCRA 623 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) and 623 ( b ). I am requesting CFPB assistance to : Remove and delete the NRA/NTL account from my credit report with all credit bureaus. Obtain written confirmation from NRA/NTL that the account is resolved and will not be sold or re-reported. Investigate their failure to provide proper FDCPA validation and improper use of text messages as written notice. Review their inaccurate reporting and improper verification under FCRA. This error has caused financial harm, credit denials, and emotional distress. I am requesting immediate correction and consumer protection intervention.
