On XX/XX/year>, at XXXX XXXX EST, I received a phone call from a No Caller ID number. The caller identified herself as a state compliance person and stated that I needed to correct my address because someone was coming to serve me papers for claim XXXX. She refused to provide any further information and instructed me to contact XXXX. Immediately after, at XXXX XXXX EST, I called XXXX and spoke with XXXX XXXX at XXXX. XXXX stated that the claim was related to Acima and alleged that I was being sued for breach of contract in the amount of {$10000.00}, but that I could settle for {$7800.00}. When I explained that I could not afford that amount and asked about a payment plan, she told me that if I did not settle, my Social Security number would be red flagged for 710 years and that it would appear on my credit report, preventing me from obtaining any type of loan, student loan, home loan, or auto loan. I asked her to send me written verification of the debtincluding the total amount owed, the original creditor, and when it was incurred. She refused, stating she could not provide any documentation because the account was in proceedings and that if I hung up, the offer would no longer be valid as they could move it to the courts at any time. Additionally, I have never received any communicationby email, phone, or mailfrom XXXX or Acima about this alleged debt prior to this phone call. This was the first and only contact made to me regarding this matter.
