I was misled by a company operating under the name XXXX XXXX / XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I originally searched online for Nelnet ( my federal student loan servicer ) to inquire about loan consolidation. The phone number I reached was answered as if it were Nelnet or an official Department of Education representative. They stated they were authorized to consolidate and manage federal student loans. Based on this representation, I believed I was speaking with my loan servicer. I agreed to monthly payments of {$120.00} starting in XX/XX/XXXX. I made these payments through XX/XX/XXXX, for a total of {$620.00}. On XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted Nelnet directly and confirmed : 1. This company is NOT affiliated with Nelnet. 2. None of the payments I made were applied to my federal student loan. This means I was misled under false representation. I paid believing these payments were legitimate and would be applied to my student loan. They were not. All evidence is included in the uploaded PDF in clear order.
