Consumer Narrative
extra photos/evidence added for complaint XXXX Subject : Dispute Regarding Improper Account Reclassification and Unauthorized Internal Transfers by Chime To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this complaint regarding the handling of my Chime Checking Account and XXXX balance on XX/XX/year>. I believe errors occurred in how Chime applied and categorized my transactions, resulting in an improper deduction from my account. Summary of Events On XX/XX/year>, I made XXXX purchases using my Chime virtual debit card linked to my Checking Account : XXXX {$110.00} XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX {$25.00} Before these purchases, my Checking Account showed {$150.00} available under XXXX. After both purchases, my Checking Account balance was {$8.00}, which is accurate. Immediately after completing the transactions, I deleted the virtual card to prevent unauthorized use. At that time : My Chime Credit Builder card had a {$0.00} balance I did not use the Credit Builder card for any transaction None of the purchases were authorized from the Credit Builder account Description of the Problem Chime subsequently reclassified or moved these Checking-Account purchases into my Credit Builder account, even though : My Credit Builder balance was {$0.00} I did not authorize any Credit Builder transactions The purchases were made using the Checking virtual debit card After reclassifying these transactions, Chime then applied my next deposit toward a {$150.00} deduction, treating it as if I owed funds on the Credit Builder card. This created what appears to be : An inaccurate internal transfer A misapplied debit An incorrect debt balance An unauthorized change in the payment source of my transactions These actions have caused financial harm, confusion, and disruption to my account. What I Am Requesting I am requesting that the CFPB assist in the following : Investigate the internal accounting actions taken by Chime related to these transactions. Require Chime to correct any errors, including : Reversing improper transfers between the Checking account and Credit Builder card Restoring any funds incorrectly deducted Providing a full explanation of why Checking-Account purchases were reassigned Ensure that Chime provides accurate documentation of their transaction processing and internal coding. Supporting Information Date of issue : XX/XX/year> Accounts involved : Chime Checking Account & Chime Credit Builder Account Type of transaction : Virtual debit card purchases Disputed amount : {$150.00} total I have attempted to resolve this matter directly with Chime but have been unable to obtain a clear explanation or correction of the issue. I am requesting CFPBs intervention to ensure the situation is thoroughly reviewed and remedied. They thought they would trick me into giving them XXXX $ by moving the transactions around so when my deposit arrived it would pay XXXX transactions instead of XXXX. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I made a purchase with my virtual debit card in my checking account XX/XX/year> at XXXX. the balance on my checking was XXXX in ( XXXX XXXX balance ). I swiped my checking virtual card for XXXX at XXXX then purchased XXXX at XXXX ready XXXX ride. leaving me with XXXX in my Checking account. I then deleted the virtual card so my checking account could not be compromised. The bank Chime then lies in their accounting department. My Credit account balance was XXXX, so I could not have made this purchase with my credit account. Chime switches the checking purchases to the credit account so when my deposit hits they recoup a XXXX I spent in my checking in XXXX XXXX credits and a fake debit in the credit account. what they did is fraud. They waited til thanksgiving to do this trick on my account. They thought they would trick me into giving them XXXX $ by moving the transactions around so when my deposit arrived it would pay XXXX transactions instead of one. Nobody ever has a negative credit builder from walmart.com or prt. You have to have money in the account to even use the credit builder card. if i was using XXXX XXXX balance in checking how did they subtract it from credit builder? You can not make a purchase with no money in credit builder. They put a false debit in credit builder. I used a virtual card and threw it away for a new one after using it.
