In early XXXX, I reviewed my credit reports and discovered several credit inquiries and accounts that I did not authorize. These appeared between XXXX and XX/XX/year>, during a period when I did not apply for any new credit. I did not give permission for my information to be used for these applications. Some of these fraudulent accounts reported balances and activity that I did not recognize. Several of the accounts were later marked as delinquent and were ultimately sent to collections, even though I never opened or used these accounts. These collection accounts have negatively impacted my credit and are not related to any legitimate activity by me. After discovering the issue, I contacted the credit bureaus to dispute the unauthorized inquiries, the fraudulent accounts, and the collection entries. I also contacted some of the companies and collection agencies involved to inform them that these accounts were not mine and were opened without my authorization. Some companies advised me to file an identity theft report, which is why I am submitting this statement. I am requesting that the unauthorized inquiries, fraudulent accounts, and all related collection accounts and negative reporting be investigated and removed from my credit files. I have taken additional steps to secure my personal information and prevent further misuse.
