I issued a check to the US treasury for a payment to the IRS on or about XX/XX/XXXX in the amount of {$11000.00}. The check was stolen, possibly at the Post Office and altered and a copy made with the payee changed to " XXXX XXXX ''. The font and logo on the altered check were different. TD Bank cashed the check. TD said that I did not notify them and stop payment within 60 days and therefore would reimburse me. I found out that the IRS did not receive payment until they notified me in XX/XX/XXXX. I immediately went to TD bank where they provided me a copy of the altered check. This was not a stop payment issue. It is a fraud issue
