I found two unauthorized hard inquiries on my Equifax credit report from XXXX XXXX dated XX/XX/2024 and XX/XX/2024. I did not apply for credit with XXXX XXXX on these dates, and I did not authorize these companies to access my credit report. I disputed both inquiries directly with Equifax and requested : ( 1 ) My signed authorization, ( 2 ) Documentation showing permissible purpose under FCRA 604 ( a ) ( 3 ), and ( 3 ) Proof of who initiated these inquiries. Equifax closed my dispute without providing any of the required documentation. They failed to verify the inquiries, failed to provide permissible purpose, and failed to provide my written authorization all of which are required under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Under FCRA 604, no hard inquiry can remain on my credit report unless the furnisher provides written proof of authorization. Since Equifax could not verify these inquiries with proper documentation, I am requesting that CFPB require Equifax to : ( 1 ) Reopen the investigation, and ( 2 ) Remove both unauthorized inquiries from my credit report immediately.
