Consumer Narrative
I am writing to formally dispute a late payment entry reported on my credit report due to the recent government shutdown, which significantly impacted my financial situation. My name is XXXX XXXX, and the accounts are XXXX XXXX XXXX loan, XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX credit card. Above all, the consumer law 15 u.s.c 1666a states that A creditor may not treat a payment on a credit card account under an open end consumer credit plan as late for any purpose, unless the creditor has adopted reasonable procedures designed to ensure that each periodic statement including the information required by section 1637 ( b ) of this title is mailed or delivered to the consumer not later than 21 days before the payment due date. Based on the law quoted and or provided, I the consumer was never given that luxury of receiving a mail or even delivery of such documents laying out my rights as a consumer. During the government shutdown that occurred I experienced disruptions in my income that led to an inability to meet my financial obligations on time. Despite my efforts to communicate with my creditors and arrange alternative payment plans, I was unable to avoid the late payment that has since been reported on my credit history. I kindly request that these late payments be reviewed and removed from my credit report, as it does not accurately reflect my payment behavior under normal circumstances.
