I am filing this complaint against Oportun XXXX XXXX for inaccurate and misleading credit reporting in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). The account ending in XXXX is being reported as Collection/Charge-off even though the account is closed and should no longer be reported as an active derogatory account. The reported balance and status do not accurately reflect the final standing of the account. I contacted both the credit bureaus and Oportun XXXX XXXX to request verification and correction of the account information, but the company has failed to provide documentation supporting this reporting or to update the status appropriately. Under FCRA 623 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ), data furnishers must not report information they know or should know is inaccurate. Continuing to report a closed account as a charge-off or active collection misrepresents my payment history and causes harm to my credit profile. I am attaching a copy of my credit report showing the account status and any relevant correspondence with the company.
