Consumer Narrative
My name is XXXX XXXX, and I am filing this complaint against TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian for failing to comply with my lawful request under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) to provide the full method of verification and reinvestigation details required by 15 U.S.C. 1681i ( 7 ). I previously submitted formal written disputes regarding inaccurate items on my credit reports and requested a detailed explanation of the procedures each bureau used to verify the disputed information. The FCRA requires that upon request, the consumer reporting agency must provide a description of the reinvestigation procedure, including the name, address, and telephone number of any furnisher contacted, as well as the documents relied upon during verification. To date, none of the credit bureaus have provided the information required by law. This failure violates multiple provisions of the FCRA, including : 15 U.S.C. 1681i ( 7 ) : Failure to provide the method of verification within XXXX days. 15 U.S.C. 1681e ( b ) : Failure to follow reasonable procedures to ensure maximum possible accuracy. 15 U.S.C. 1681i ( a ) : Failure to conduct a proper and reasonable reinvestigation. I specifically requested the following information, which was ignored or not adequately provided : The name, address, and phone number of each creditor contacted. The name of the person or department that verified each dispute. The documents used to verify the accuracy of the reported items. A description of the procedures used to ensure accuracy. If the credit bureaus can not produce this evidence, they are required to delete or correct the inaccurate information under 15 U.S.C. 1681i ( a ) ( 5 ). Their failure to do so has caused continued harm to my credit and constitutes negligent and willful noncompliance under 15 U.S.C. 1681n and 1681o.
