Consumer Narrative
I had filed a previous complaint against JG Wentworth with CFPB due to their not syncing up with my XXXXXXXX XXXX escrow account with XXXX XXXX accounting, and trying to charge me more than {$1200.00}, when I owe {$100.00}, since they were not using the escrow money. I logged over XXXX hours of phone calls with XXXX, trying to get them to fix this. Nothing but the runaround. I filed the complaint with CFPB, and XXXX finally agreed that they had a syncing error, claiming, " Due to a skipped deposit for XXXX and with the next scheduled payment set for XX/XX/year>, the remaining balance of {$150.00} which includes {$130.00} in program fees and {$19.00} in XXXX escrow fees will be deducted accordingly. '' JG Wentworth is still incorrect with the math, overcharging me for my graduation from the program by {$51.00}. The other issue was that I was still scheduled for XXXX more monthly payments of {$520.00}, even though I have XXXX more payment to graduate from the program, and an unconsented payment in XXXX, which was requested for XXXX. I filed a second CFPB complaint for this new inconsistency on the final balance and payment schedules. Although XXXX did remove the upcoming XXXX payments of {$520.00}, and placed the final payment schedule from XX/XX/XXXX to XXXX XXXX, they are still overcharging me for my graduation at {$150.00}. What I owe is {$25000.00}, minus the {$25000.00} that I paid, which equals {$100.00}. They claim a XXXX XXXX escrow fee of {$19.00}, when it has always been {$9.00} throughout the history of the program. The attached consolidated statement shows this. I will pay the {$9.00} escrow fee that I have always paid, on top of what I actually owe, and that is fair. That would increase my total responsibilities to the program from {$25000.00} to {$25000.00}. So far, I have paid {$25000.00} into the program so which makes a difference of {$110.00}. That means I should only owe {$110.00} to graduate from the program. All these other secret fee mentions from XXXX are a scam to take a little more money than what they are owed. I refuse to pay XXXX cent over what I owe, especially after being put on a phone runaround with XXXX for months, over XXXX hours in total, to fight their seriously inconsistent accounting, which seems very intentional, and reducing their initial XXXX XXXXXXXX demand to graduate, to the still incorrect number of {$150.00}. Yesterday, I spoke with an agent, and she claimed the overcharges are a padding in case of unforeseen charges. She claimed that if there are no other unforeseen charges, the overcharge would be refunded. This is not in my contract, and I refuse to pay into an undisclosed buffer, especially when I had to fight for XXXX months for a {$31.00} refund of legal fees. What other hidden fees would I incur when every account is settled? Also, strangely enough, I noticed their overcharge adds up to exactly the XXXX refunded legal fees, {$15.00} each ( {$31.00} ), and XXXX added escrow fees of {$9.00} ( {$19.00} ). The math is ... {$100.00} ( My actual final balance without the final escrow fees ) + {$19.00} ( the amount of XXXX escrow fee payments ) XXXX {$31.00} ( XXXX trying to reclaim my XXXX past legal fee refunds ) XXXX {$150.00}. They are sneaking in extra fees in hopes that I am exhausted from fighting them for the correct numbers, and trying to take whatever they can get away with. Extremely predatory! I will not pay anything over {$110.00} and will not just hand over an extra {$41.00}.
