Consumer Narrative

When reviewing my Experian credit report, I discovered several accounts and hard inquiries that I never authorized. These include the following : XXXX XXXX XXXX Account No. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Account No. XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX Account No. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX Account No. XXXX None of these accounts or inquiries were initiated, authorized, or consented to by me. I never applied for credit with these entities, nor did I grant permission for anyone to access my credit file in connection with these accounts. I believe these entries resulted from identity theft or misuse of my personal information. To protect myself and comply with the law, I filed a Police Report ( Case No. XXXX ) documenting the unauthorized activity. I submitted that report, along with supporting documentation, directly to Experian as part of my formal dispute. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), Section 605B ( 15 U.S.C. 1681c-2 ), once a valid identity theft report is provided, a credit reporting agency must block and delete the disputed information within four ( 4 ) business days unless it can verify that the data is accurate and authorized. Despite submitting the required documentation, Experian failed to remove the unauthorized accounts and related inquiries. Each of these represents a violation of FCRA Section 604 ( 15 U.S.C. 1681b ), which prohibits any party from accessing or reporting a consumers credit file without a valid permissible purpose based on the consumers consent. Furthermore, Experians continued reporting of these accounts violates multiple provisions of federal law, including : Section 607 ( b ) ( 15 U.S.C. 1681e ( b ) ) : Failure to maintain reasonable procedures to assure maximum possible accuracy. Section 611 ( a ) ( 15 U.S.C. 1681i ) : Failure to conduct a proper reinvestigation and delete unverifiable data within 30 days. Section 611 ( a ) ( 5 ) ( B ) : Requirements for reinsertion of previously deleted information ( written certification and notice to consumer ). Additionally, these accounts violate Metro 2 data reporting standards, which require that all reported data be complete, accurate, consistent, and verifiable. These items fail those standards because : They are inaccurate ( I never authorized them ). The inquiries lack a valid permissible purpose. There is no documentary evidence to justify their inclusion. Because Experian has not complied with these laws, these entries continue to cause real financial and emotional harm, including : Denial of a mortgage application due to these accounts being flagged as negative. Approval of a vehicle loan but at a significantly higher interest rate because of the false accounts. Denial of a credit card, leading to additional inquiries that further harmed my credit score. Loss of time, resources, and peace of mind in attempting to correct data that should never have been reported. This is not merely an administrative mistake ; it is a willful violation of federal consumer protection law that has directly impacted my creditworthiness and financial stability
