Consumer Narrative

I am filing this complaint because the credit reporting agencies TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax continue to report outdated and unverified personal identifiers on my credit files even after I mailed full proof of my current legal identity and residence. My mailed dispute included a copy of my U.S. Passport Card, Marriage License, and a recent utility bill, which clearly establish my current legal name ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) and my present address ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, WA XXXX ). Despite receiving these documents, the bureaus have failed to delete multiple former names, obsolete addresses, and outdated phone numbers that no longer apply to me. Under FCRA 607 ( b ) [ 15 U.S.C. 1681e ( b ) ], consumer reporting agencies must follow reasonable procedures to assure the maximum possible accuracy of the information they report. Outdated or unverifiable identifiers are not accurate and create risk of mixed files and identity confusion. Under FCRA 611 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) [ 15 U.S.C. 1681i ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) ], the bureaus are required to reinvestigate disputed items within 30 days and delete any information that can not be verified as accurate. Washington State law, RCW 19.182.070 ( 2 ), further requires prompt deletion or modification of any information found to be inaccurate or unverifiable. Because the bureaus have already received verified documentation proving my identity and address, continuing to report outdated identifiers constitutes a violation of both federal and state law. I am requesting that the CFPB review this matter and ensure that the credit bureaus : 1. Permanently delete all outdated or unverifiable identifiers ; 2. Provide me with written confirmation of the deletions ; and 3. Update my credit files to reflect only my correct, current identifying information. This request is made in good faith and does not admit liability for any alleged debt or account. I am simply seeking lawful accuracy and compliance as required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act and Washington State law.
