I was the victim of identity theft. Someone tried to open many credit cards in my name, including one that was opened but it was sent to my address not the thief 's. I had that card canceled and reported the identity theft to the bank as well as reported the theft to many other banks who had sent me reject notices for attempts to open cards in my name. So I then also called Experian and had a freeze put on my account. A few months later when I went to remove the freeze, I found that whoever had tried to open the cards also registered an Experian account with my info, so I can not log in to get the freeze removed. The email and phone number associated with the Experian account for my SSN are not mine. I tried calling them a few times but it is impossible to get an actual person on the phone to explain the problem to. So in XXXX, I sent them a lengthy letter in the mail explaining the situation and asking to fix it. Along with the letter, I included a copy of my SSN card, REAL ID, birth certificate and passport. I had the letter tracked and saw that it was delivered in XXXX. I have not gotten a response from them. I need to get this straightened out ASAP. Without doing so I am unable to get any sort of loan due to the freeze that I can't remove.
